Chapter 264.

AN ACT to amend article thirty of the Code of Pub-
|
|
|
|
lic General Laws, title " Crimes and Punishments,"
|
|
|
|
sub-title " Marrying Unlawfully," by adding thereto
|
|
|
|
an additional section forbidding marriages between
|
|
|
|
white persons and persons of negro descent to the
|
|
|
|
third generation, to be known and distinguished as
|
|
|
|
section one hundred and thirty-three A.
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
|
|
|
|
of Maryland, That article thirty of the Code of
|
|
|
|
Public General Laws, title " Crimes and Punish-
|
Article amend-

ments," sub-title "Marrying Unlawfully," be amended
|
ed.
|
|
|
by adding thereto the following additional section, to
|
|
|
|
be known and distinguished as section " one hundred
|
|
|
|
and thirty-three A."
|
|
|
|
SEC. 133A. All marriages between a white person
|
|
|
|
and a negro, or between a white person and a person
|

of negro descent, to the third generation inclusive, are
|
hibited.
|
|
|
forever prohibited, and shall be void; and any person
|
|
|
|
violating the provisions of this section shall be deemed
|
|
|
|
guilty of an infamous crime, and punished by impri-
|
|
|
|
sonment in the penitentiary not less than eighteen
|
Punishment.

AN ACT to protect the health of those employed in

factories, manufacturing establishments and work-

shops in this state.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly

of Maryland, That all factories, manufacturing estab-
|
|
|
|
lishments or workshops in the state shall be kept in a
|
