Chapter 146.

AN ACT to repeal section three of chapter one
|
|
|
|
hundred and fourteen of the acts of the general
|
|
|
|
assembly of eighteen hundred and eighty-two, en-
|
|
|
|
titled " An act to incorporate the Board of Foreign
|
|
|
|
Missions of the General Synod of the Evangelical
|
|
|
|
Lutheran Church in the United States of America,"
|
|
|
|
and to re-enact the same with amendments.
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
|
|
|
|
of Maryland, That section three of chapter one
|
|
|
|
hundred and fourteen of the acts of the general
|
|
|
|
assembly of eighteen hundred and eighty two, entitled
|
|
|
Repealed and
re-enacted.
|
" An act to incorporate the Board of Foreign Missions
|
|
|
|
of the General Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran
|
|
|
|
Church in the United States of America," be and the
|
|
|
|
same hereby is repealed and re-enacted so as to read
|
|
|
|
as follows :
|
|
|
|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the corporation
|
|
|
|
hereby created shall consist of not less than five nor
|
|
|

more than nine persons, who shall, from time to time,

be chosen or appointed by the General Synod of the

Evangelical Lutheran Church in the United States of

America, in such manner as it may deem best; and

the persons so chosen or appointed shall hold office as

choice or appointment of their successors by the said
|
|
|
|
general synod; provided, however, that in the event of
|
|
|
|
any vacancy occurring by death, resignation or other-
|
|
|
|
wise, in the membership of the corporation hereby
|
|
|
|
created, the majority of the remaining members of the
|
|
|
|
corporation may forthwith elect a new member to fill
|
|
|
|
such vacancy until the next meeting of the general
|
|
|
|
synod.
|
|
|
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
|
|
|
