Chapter 110.


AN ACT for the relief of William H. Jordan, Rich-


ard H. Dixon, Sewell T. Milbourne and George W.


Orem, sureties of John H. Seward, Collector of


Taxes for the year eighteen hundred and sixty-eight,


in Election Districts numbers seven and thirteen of


Dorchester county.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly


of Maryland, That William H. Jordan, Richard H.


Dixon, Sewell T. Milbourne and George W. Orem,


sureties of John H. Seward upon his bond as collector


of state taxes for the year eighteen hundred and sixty-


eight, in election districts numbers seven and thirteen

of Dorchester county, be and they are hereby released


from the payment of all interest with which the said


John H. Seward and said sureties are or may be


charged or chargeable, and which remains unpaid as


collector aforesaid under and by virtue of said bond ;


provided that the said sureties shall promptly pay


into the treasury of the state the principal sum due


to the state by the said John H. Seward, collector as

aforesaid; and provided, further, that they shall also

sum due state.

pay all costs and charges already incurred, or that may


be incurred by the state with reference to said unpaid


taxes, including five per centum commission on the


amount of the judgment obtained by the state on said


bond, in the circuit court for Dorchester county, for

comptroller and treasurer of the state having recom-


mended that the said interest be remitted.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
