Chapter 138.

|
AN ACT to allow the citizens of Accomac county,
|
|
|
|
Yirginia, a period of two years to remove oysters
|
|
|
|
planted by them in the Chincoteague bay, on the
|
|
|
|
north side of the state line established by the com-
|
|
|
|
missioners appointed by the States of Maryland
|
|
|
|
and Yirginia for the purpose of establishing said
|
|
|
|
state line.
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS many citizens of Accomac county, in the
|
|
|
|
State of Yirginia, have, previous to the establishment
|
|
|
|
of the state line between Maryland and Yirginia,
|
|
|
|
planted many oysters in the State of Maryland, in
|
|
|
Preamble.
|
the Chincoteague bay, on the north side of said line,
|
|
|
|
supposing they were planting the said oysters in the
|
|
|
|
State of Yirginia; and whereas it is desirous to secure
|
|
|
|
the said citizens of Accomac county, Yirginia, from
|
|
|
|
loss and damage on account of the same; therefore —
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be, it enacted by the General Assembly
|
|
|
|
of Maryland, That all citizens of Accomac county,
|
|
|
|
Virginia, who have planted oysters on the north side
|
|
|
|
of the recently established line between the States of
|
|
|
Rights of citi-

Maryland and Yirginia, in the Chincoteague bay,
|
|
|

shall have the same rights of possession and property
|
|
|

in said oysters, for the space of two years from the
|
|
|
|
passage of this act, as if they were citizens of Mary-
|
|
|
|
land; provided that after the said space of two years
|
|
|
|
the rights of the said citizens of Accomac county , Yir-
|
|
|
|
ginia, shall be void and of no effect in law.
|
|
|
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
|
|
|
