assumed this responsibility. In some of the larger

counties, such as Prince George's County, you v?ill find

Probation Departments supported by both local funds and

State funds. Such diverse arrangements have no justifica-

tion in financial equity or efficiency."

Of course, earlier in this statement I proposed

that all of the State offices and their supporting services
|

|
which would include Probation, should be supported by the
|

State.

"Many of the ancillary offices of the Courts

are financed from fees. Such systems violate all recognize

sound budgetary precepts. Whatever positions and offices

are required for the efficient conduct of the Courts, and

whatever revenues are generated from these offices should

be included in the budget as a general fund revenue item."
