that I've had in one of the houses convinces me that we
2
can operate very successfully with the unicameral legis-
3
lature and I think it would be far more desirable for
4
many, many reasons other than those stated, but which
5
have been stated in a study that has been made by your
6
Committee, your Commission reports here, which has gone
7
into great length on the pros and cons and I won't
8
repeat them.
9
One thing I would like to say, that I have
10
been most interested in ever since I came into the State
11
house is to make certain, however, that state legislators
12
remain state legislators. I would like to see some syster
13
devised with a unicameral system which would put us all
14
to the test, whereby a state legislator would have
15
nothing to do with county local legislation. This may
16
not tie in exactly to this point, but I would like to
17
see this looked into further by this group.
18
THE CHAIRMAN: You will be interested to know
19
that we do have another committee that has made a study
20
of this and looked at that very question and we do feel
21
that they are tied together.
