One point I would like to make is this.
6
Maryland has had two Republican Governors since 1922 to
7
the present time, and we have a third Republican Governor,
8
Mr. Agnew, January 25, when that rolls around, and if you
9
will refer to the financial papers I have given you, I
10
have given you a detailed breakdown of the fiscal year
11
68 budget. That is in the green folder, it goes through
12
1967, showing you the growth in General, Special ond
13
Federal funds. The last year of Governor McKeldin's
14
budget, which is F.Y. '65, there were $355,375,994, and
15
the budget of Governor Tawes, now operating, round figures
16
$885 million. You have the prior budgets. There has neve
17
been an impaiment of the government. The people's
18
interest have been served, the finances of Maryland have
19
been sound, our bonds rate Triple A, highest rate of
20
any State in the Union, a ready market for them, and we
21
are meeting the challenges. I feel the system has worked
