SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That insofar as the
provisions of this Act may conflict with other Acts or parts
thereof, the provisions of this Act shall control.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act being
enacted to meet an emergency through the police power of
the (State, is hereby declared to be immediately necessary for
the preservation of the public peace, health and safety and
shall be liberally construed.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That should any sec-
tion, or part of a section of this Act be held to be invalid
for any reason, such holding shall not be construed as af-
fecting the validity of any remaining section or part of a
section of this Act, it being the legislative intent that the
remainder of this Act shall stand, notwithstanding the in-
validity of such section or part of a section.
SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an. emergency law and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety, and
having been passed upon a yea and nay vote, supported by
three-fifths of all of the members elected to each of the two
houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 47.
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 23 of the Code
of Public General Laws of Maryland, Edition of 1924,
entitled "Corporations", sub-title "Building and Home-
stead Associations", the said new section to follow im-
mediately after Section 171, to be known as Section
171A, limiting the manner in which unredeemed shares
in such building and homestead associations may be
redeemed.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section be and the same is hereby
added to Article 23 of the Code of Public General Laws of
Maryland, entitled "Corporations", sub-title "Building and
