Allegany County Jail for not more than six months, or be
both fined and imprisoned in the discretion of the Court.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is an
emergency law necessary for the immediate preservation
of the health and general welfare of the residents of the
City of Cumberland, and three-fifths of the members of
each House of the General Assembly concurring therein,
by yea and nay vote, the same shall be effective from the
date of its passage.

CHAPTER 43.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
502 of Article 10 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Dorchester County, "
sub-title "Sheriff, " reducing the cost of boarding and
keeping prisoners in Dorchester County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 502 of Article 10 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Dor-
chester County, " sub-title "Sheriff, " be and it is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted with amendments to read as follows:
502. The sheriff of Dorchester County shall not be en-
titled to receive more than forty cents a day for
keeping and boarding each prisoner; and the County
Commissioners shall make quarterly settlements with the
sheriff, who shall present an itemized account, and shall
give him an order on the county treasurer for all monies
found to be due him for the board and keeping of the pris-
oners to date.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1933.
