founding of Maryland, and providing for the acquisition,
in the name of the State, of certain historic sites therein
mentioned, and the construction thereon of certain me-
morials, and for the appropriation of certain sums of
money therefor.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 1 of Chapter 487 of the Acts of
1931 be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted with
amendments to read as follows:

1. The Commemoration of the Three Hundredth An-
niversary of the founding of Maryland shall be duly and
properly celebrated, under the authority and direction of
the Maryland Tercentenary Commission heretofore ap-
pointed, and of such additional members thereof and of
such other commission or committee as may be appointed
by the Governor; and as incident to said commemoration,
the said Maryland Tercentenary Commission, or the com-
mission or committee authorized to be appointed, as afore-
said, shall select and procure in the name of the State a
suitable site at Cowes, Isle of Wight, England, and cause
to be designed and erected thereon, and unveiled, a durable
memorial of stone and/or bronze, with appropriate inscrip-
tion, marking the place from whence the original settlers
sailed in the "Ark" and the "Dove" for the Province of
Maryland, November 22, 1633, and shall also select and
procure in the name of the State a suitable site on St.
Clement's (now Blackiston's) Island, in the Potomac River,
Maryland, and cause to be designed and erected thereon,
and unveiled, a durable and appropriate memorial of stone
and/or bronze or other suitable material, with appropriate
inscription, marking the place where the original settlers
first made their temporary landing in Maryland on or about
March 25th, 1634; and the said Commission or the Board of
Public Works as the latter may determine, shall cause to be
designed and erected a replica of the first State House
erected at St. Mary's City in or about the year 1674 on the
area at St. Mary's City bounded on its northwest side by
Brome's Wharf Road and on its northeast side by the State
Road leading to Point Lookout, recently donated to the State
for said purposes by Mrs. Jeannette E. Brome Howard and
Mrs. Susette I. Brome Bennett, in which State House thus
to be erected, or on the outside as may be determined, shall
be a suitable memorial tablet upon which there shall be an
inscription commemorating the landing of the first colon-
ists from the Ark and the Dove on March 27th, 1634, said
