Trailers weighing 9, 000 pounds and over shall not have
a gross weight in excess of 40, 000 pounds.
6A. WEIGHT OF TRUCK TRACTORS AND SEMI-TRAILERS
COMBINED.
The combination of truck tractors drawing trailers or
semi-trailers shall not be operated on any highway of this
State with gross combined weight exceeding those as set
forth in the following classes. For the purpose of this sub-
section, the weight of the tractor shall control the weight
of the combined units.
When the truck tractor weighs 2, 500 pounds and over,
but less than 3, 500 pounds, the gross combined weight of
truck tractor, trailer or semi-trailer shall not exceed 22, 000
pounds.
When the truck tractor weighs 3, 500 pounds and over,
but less than 5, 000 pounds, the gross combined weight of
truck tractor, trailer or semi-trailer shall not exceed 30, 000
pounds.
When the truck tractor weighs 5, 000 pounds and over,
but less than 6, 500 pounds, the gross combined weight of
truck tractor, trailer or semi-trailer shall not exceed 33, 000
pounds.
When the truck tractor weighs 6, 500 pounds and over,
but less than 7, 500 pounds, the gross combined weight of
truck tractor, trailer or semi-trailer shall not exceed 36, 000
pounds.
When the truck tractor weighs 7, 500 pounds and over,
the gross combined weight of truck tractor, trailer or semi-
trailer shall not exceed 40, 000 pounds.
7A. WEIGHT OF COMMERCIAL VEHICLES, ELECTRICALLY
OPERATED, EQUIPPED WITH PNEUMATIC TIRES.
Commercial motor vehicles, electrically operated, and
equipped with pneumatic tires, shall not be used or oper-
ated on any highway of this State with a load in excess of
the carrying capacity as given by the manufacturer and in
no event shall the weight of the chassis, battery, body and
load in pounds exceed a gross weight of 40, 000 pounds.
(3) SPEED OF OTHER VEHICLES.
No motor vehicles shall be operated upon any public
highway of this State at a rate of speed exceeding twenty
miles an hour in the thickly settled or business parts of
