credited to the Police Fund of said county, and all witnesses
in criminal cases living in the town of Rockville or within
two miles thereof summoned before said Police Justice shall
be allowed fifty cents per day and two and one-half cents
per mile going to the office of said Police Justice, as well as
returning from the office of said Police Justice.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is de-
clared to be an emergency law and necessary for the im-
mediate preservation of the public health, safety and wel-
fare and being passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by
three-fifths of all of the members elected to each of the
two Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 228.

AN ACT to add a new Section to Article 33 of Bagby's
Annotated Code of Public General Laws of Maryland,
Edition of 1924, title "Elections, " the same providing
for the use of voting machines heretofore purchased by
the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section is hereby added to Article
33 of Bagby's Annotated Code of Public General Laws of
Maryland, Edition of 1924, title "Elections, " the same to
follow immediately after Section 224 of said Article 33,
to be numbered Section 224A, and to read as follows:

224A. The Board of Supervisors of Election for Balti-
more City is hereby directed, in all future elections, to use
the voting machines heretofore purchased by the Mayor
and City Council of Baltimore, and which are available for
use at the time of" the passage of this Act. Not more than
two voting machines shall be used in any one polling place,
and the form and arrangement of ballot labels shall be in
accordance with the provisions as to ballots contained in
Section 63 of Article 33 of Bagby's Annotated Code, Edi-
tion of 1924, (or as may herein and hereafter be prescribed
by law), except that the titles of offices shall be arranged
horizontally or vertically, and the names of the candidates
of each party or principle shall be arranged, under or
