to Article 7 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Carroll County, " sub-title "Revenue
and Taxes, " said new section to be known as Section 313A,
to follow immediately after Section 313 of said Article, and
to read as follows:

313A. The Collector of State and County taxes in Car-
roll County is hereby authorized to appoint an assistant.
Said collector and assistant shall receive in equal monthly
installments annual salaries of eighteen hundred dollars
($1, 800) and one thousand dollars ($1, 000), respectively,
and said collector and assistant shall be entitled to no fees,
commissions or compensation other than said salaries.
The County Commissioners of said county shall annually
levy and collect from the assessable property in Carroll
County a sum of money sufficient to pay said salaries.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1933.

CHAPTER 175.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 52 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Justices
of the Peace, " sub-title "Criminal Jurisdiction, " said new
section to be known as Section 12A and to follow im-
mediately after Section 12 of said Article, to empower
Justices of the Peace, with approval of the State's At-
torney, to suspend sentence.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section be and it is hereby added to
Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1924 Edi-
tion), title "Justices of the Peace, " sub-title "Criminal
Jurisdiction, " said new section to be known as Section 12A,
to follow immediately after Section 12 of said Article, and
to read as follows:

12A. The several Justices of the Peace of the State of
Maryland are hereby invested with, and shall hereafter
have, power to suspend, in their discretion and with the
