Town of Westernport and the length of time he has lived
in said Town of Westernport, and the office which he seeks,
provided said petition shall be signed by at least twenty-
five registered voters and is delivered to said Clerk at least
five days before the date of election. At said election no
ballots shall be accepted or counted by the judges of elec-
tion except those in manner and form as herein prescribed
for the official ballot, which ballot containing a square op-
posite the name of each candidate may be voted by a cross
mark in said square opposite the name of the candidate
voted for or the name of the person or persons voted for
may be written in the blank space provided with square
opposite in which cross mark must be placed to so vote.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, as aforesaid, That
the present Mayor, Commissioners and Clerk of the Town
of Westernport shall continue to hold office as such officials
after the expiration of their respective terms for which
they were elected, until their successors are duly elected
and qualified as provided by this Act.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted as aforesaid, That
this Act is hereby declared to be an emergency law and
necessary for the immediate preservation of the public
health and safety, and being passed upon a yea and nay
vote supported by three-fifths of all the members elected to
each of the two Houses of the General Assembly, the same
shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 68.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Para-
graph 26A of Section 6, Article 4 of the Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1927 and 1930 Editions), title "Bal-
timore City, " sub-title "General Powers, " sub-heading
"Streets, Bridges and Highways, " eliminating the pro-
vision making said paragraph applicable to property
adjacent to Baltimore City in the opening, extending,
widening, straightening or closing streets within the
limits of said city.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Paragraph 26A of Section 6, Article 4 of
