CHAPTER 596.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tions 251 and 252 of Article 56 of the Code of Public
General Laws of Maryland, 1929 Edition, title "Li-
censes", sub-title "Public Passenger Motor Vehicles"; to
add three new sections to Article 56 of the Code of Public
General Laws of Maryland, title "Licenses", sub-title
"Public Passenger Motor. Vehicles", to be known as
Section 251A, to follow immediately after Section 251,
and Sections 255A and 255B, to follow immediately after
Section 255; to repeal and re-enact, with amendments
Section 256 of Article 56 of the Code of Public General
Laws of Maryland, 1929 Edition, title "Licenses", sub-
title "Public Passenger Motor Vehicles", for the purpose
of limiting the operation of this sub-title to intrastate
transportation; to provide for a separate classification
for motor vehicles operating in urban territory; to
grant the power to revoke licenses in certain cases to
the Public Service Commission of Maryland; to grant
certain powers to the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles;
to except certain motor vehicles from the provisions of
this Act, and to make certain changes in the penalties
for a violation of this sub-title.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 251 and 252 of Article 56 of the
Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, 1929 Edition,
title "Licenses", sub-title "Public Passenger Motor Ve-
hicles", be and the same are hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
251. It shall be the duty of each owner of a motor vehicle
to be used in the public intra-state transportation of passen-
gers for hire operating over State, State-Aid, improved
County Roads, and Streets and Roads of incorporated
towns and cities in the State of Maryland: (1) to secure
a permit from the Public Service Commission of Mary-
land to operate over said roads and streets; (2) to present
same to the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles annually, at
the time and according to the method and provisions pre-
scribed by law for the making of applications for regis-
tration tags in the case of all other motor vehicles; (3)
to make an application in writing for registration with the
Commissioner of Motor Vehicles, and to state in said ap-
plication besides the other matters by law provided; (a)
the seating capacity for passengers of said motor vehicle;
