SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the County Commissioners of Montgomery
County be and they are hereby authorized, in their discre-
tion, to purchase a lot or parcel of ground for use as a
dump and to levy a sufficient amount to pay for the cost
of same.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is here-
by declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety,
and having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported
by three-fifths of all of the members elected to each of the
two Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 583.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
287 of Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Montgomery County, "
sub-title "Dogs, " so as to provide for the manner in
which residents of Montgomery County shall secure pay-
ment for domestic fowls or animals destroyed or injured
by dogs.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 287 of Article 16 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Montgomery County, " sub-title "Dogs, " be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted with amendments to read as
follows:
287. When any resident of Montgomery County shall
have any domestic fowls or animals belonging to him de-
stroyed or injured by dogs, he shall, within twenty-four
hours after the discovery of such destruction or injury,
notify the Chief of Police of Montgomery County and
acquaint him with the damage done and the location of the
carcasses of the fowls or animals so destroyed or injured.
Within twenty-four hours after receiving such notice, the
Chief of Police of Montgomery County shall cause an in-
spection to be made by a member of the Montgomery Coun-
