AN ACT to authorize the Mayor and City Council
of Baltimore, to increase the issue of Water
Stock, to assess and collect Water Rates and
Water Tax, to supply water on the line of
their Water Works, and to protect said Water
Works from injury.

Repeal.

SECTION 1 Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That an Act entitled, " An Act
to authorize the Mayor and City Council of Balti-
more to assess and collect water rates and water
tax, to supply water on the line of their water
works, and to protect said water works from
injury, " passed on the twenty -eighth day of Febru-
ary, eighteen hundred and sixty-two, chapter
eighty-three, be, and the same is hereby repealed,
and that the following be and hereby is enacted in
lieu of section nine hundred and thirty-nine, of
article four, of the Code of Public Local Laws:

939. For the purpose of defraying all the ex-
penses and costs of said lands, waters and water-
rights as shall have been taken for the purposes
aforesaid, and of constructing all works necessary
to the accomplishment of said purposes and all
expenses incident thereto, the said Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore shall have authority in
the name of the City, to issue certificates of debt
to be denominated on the face, "Baltimore Water
Stock, " to an amount not exceeding four millions
and five hundred thousand dollars, bearing inter-
