CHAPTER 36.

 

AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money to pay
Capt. Jesse W. Lee, Perley R. Lovejoy and J.
W. Jordan, assignee of Henry Powles, expen-
ses incurred in registering soldiers votes.

7, 1866.

SECTION. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Comptroller be, and he is
hereby authorized and directed to issue his war-
rant upon the Treasurer for the sum of two hun-
dred and six dollars and thirty-five cents, to
pay Capt. Jesse W. Lee; for the sum of one
hundred and forty-five dollars and forty-six cents,
to pay Perley R. Lovejoy; and for the sum of one-
hundred and ninety-three dollars and fifty-five
cents, to pay J. W. Jordan, assignee of Henry
Powles, for expenses incurred in registering the
votes of the soldiers of the Maryland Regiments,
by appointment of the Governor, under act of
January Session, eighteen hundred and sixty-
five.

Sec. 2. And "be, it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to encourage and facilitate Immigration
to the State of Maryland.

8, 1866.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
cf Maryland, That there shall be appointed by the
Governor, a commissioner, to be styled, " Commis-
sioner of Immigration of the State of Maryland, "
who, in conjunction with the duties assigned him
by this act as hereinafter mentioned, shall also act
as Secretary of the Board of Public Works, keep a
regular journal of the proceedings of said Board,
and be the custodian of all papers, documents and
