Joint Resolutions of the General Assembly of
Maryland.
WHEREAS, The Senate and House of Delegates of
the General Assembly of Maryland, did by their
Joint Resolution on the fourteenth day of Feb-
ruary, in the year eighteen hundred and sixty-
five, unanimously protest against the authoriza-
tion by the Congress of the United States, of any
railroad through the State of Maryland, without
giving to the Legislature thereof and to all per-
sons interested in such projected road, the fullest
opportunity of presenting their views in relation
thereto, before committees of the two Houses of
Congress duly charged with the office of exam-
ining the same; and whereas, the Senate and
House of Delegates of Maryland, have been in-
formed that bills have been introduced into the
Congress of the United States, at the present ses-
sion thereof, the purpose of which is to authorize
the construction of such road or roads, within,
this State, without the assent of the General
Assembly thereof, or without affording to the
