CHAPTER 22.

AN ACT to add additional sections to Chapter
one hundred and ninety-seven, passed at the
January Session, eighteen hundred and fifty-two,
relating to Slaughter Creek Bridge in Dorches-
ter county.

SECTION 5. And be it enacted, That the Commis-
sioners of Dorchester county he hereby empowered
and authorized to regulate the travel over said
bridge; to bring action at law to recover damages
against any person or persons, who may injure said
bridge by violent or careless driving, by making
fast thereto vessels or scows, or damaging the said

AN ACT to repeal an Act passed January Session,
eighteen hundred and sixty-five, entitled, an
Act to amend article eleven of the Code of Pub-
lic Local Laws, entitled, "Frederick County, "
and re-enact the same with amendments.

Passed Feb.
1, 1866.

WHEREAS, The sum of two hundred thousand
thousand dollars was levied by the Rebel General,
Jubal E. Early, on the City of Frederick, on the
ninth day of July, eighteen hundred and sixty-
four, with the alternative presented to the citizens
to pay said sum or to have their town sacked by the
rebel soldiery; and whereas, after consultation be-
tween the officers of the several banking institu-
tions of said town, a large number of the citizens,
and those of the corporate authorities that re-
