CHAPTER 157.

 

AN ACT to provide for the General Valuation and
Assessment of property in this State.

Passed Feb.
5, 1866.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That all property, real, personal and
mixed, of all kinds and description whatever, in
this State, shall be liable to valuation and assess-
ment, and shall be chargable with taxes accord-
ing to the provisions of this act.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That to facilitate and
expedite the assessments, Baltimore city shall he
divided into five Assessment Districts, upon the
basis of the present division of the city into wards,
whereof wards numbers one, two, three anil four
shall constitute the First District; and wards num-
bers five, six, seven and eight shall constitute the
Second District; and wards numbers nine, ten,
eleven and twelve shall constitute the Third Dis-
trict; and wards numbers thirteen, fourteen, fifteen
and sixteen shall constitute the Fourth District;
and wards numbers seventeen, eighteen, nineteen
and twenty shall constitute the Fifth District.

District; Election Districts numbered four, eight,
