Chapter 42.

 

AN ACT to repeal an act passed at the January

 

session, eighteen hundred and seventy-eight, of

 

the General Assembly of Maryland, being chapter

 

eighty-four, entitled " An Act to provide for the

 

relocation and straightening of Water street and

 

extension of Green street in the city of Cumber-

 

land, and for recurbing and repaving thereof, and

 

to enact other provisions in lieu thereof."

 

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-

 

bly of Maryland, That the act of eighteen hundred

 

and seventy-eight, chapter eighty-four, of this Gen-

 

eral Assemby, entitled " An Act to provide for the

enacted in lieu

extension of Green street in the city of Cumberland,

thereof.

and for the grading, recurbing and repaving thereof,"

 

be and is hereby repealed, and the following pro-

 

visions are hereby enacted in lieu thereof :

 

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That Lloyd Lowndes,

 

Jr., Anthony Kean, Richard D. Johnson, A. D.

 

Ladew and John R. Cruzen be and they are hereby

 

appointed commissioners, with power and authority

vested in them, or a majority of them, to relocate

straighten.

and straighten that portion of Water street, in. the

 

city of Cumberland, lying between Washington and

 

Green streets in said city, and to have said street re-

 

graded, recurbed and paved between the curbing.

 

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That said commissioners

 

shall have all the powers, and their proceedings

 

shall be conducted in the same manner as if they

 

were appointed by the Mayor and City Council of

 

Cumberland, in accordance with sub-section forty-

eight, of this General Assembly, chapter four hun-

 

dred and eighty-four, and their proceedings shall

 

be returned to the City Council of said city, and

 

shall be subject to all the provisions of sub-sections

 

forty-four, forty-five, forty-six and forty-seven of said

 

city charter.

 

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the expenses of
