CHAPTER 13.

AN ACT to authorize the County Commissioners of Howard
County to issue coupon bonds to an amount not exceeding
Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50, 000. 00), on the faith and credit
of said County for repairing present school building or for
erecting, equipping and furnishing a new School Building
in Savage, in the Sixth Election District of said County,
and to levy a tax on the assessable property of said County
to pay the interest on said bonds and to pay for said bonds
as they become due and payable.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That for the purpose of providing the money necessary
for repairing the present school building or for the erection,
equipment and furnishing of a new School Building as here-
inafter specified, including heating and lighting equipment
and for all other purposes incidental thereto, the County Com-
missioners of Howard County are hereby authorized, in their
discretion, to issue coupon bonds to an amount not to exceed
Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50, 000. 00); said bonds to be issued
in denominations of One Thousand Dollars ($1, 000. 00) each,
to be numbered consecutively, to be issued at such time or
times as said Commissioners shall determine, and to bear in-
terest from date of issue at a rate to be fixed by the said
County Commissioners of Howard County, or a majority of
them, not exceeding four per centum (4%) per annum, payable
semi-annually, and shall mature serially, Three Thousand
Dollars ($3, 000. 00) annually, beginning one year from date of
issue, until all of said bonds shall mature and be paid; and
said bonds shall be signed by the President of the said County
Commissioners and attested by the Treasurer of Howard
County with the seal of the County Commissioners of Howard
County attached and said bonds shall have printed thereon a
distinct reference to the Act directing their issuance and shall
be exempt from State, County and municipal taxation in the
State of Maryland.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That in order to provide
for the selling of said bonds, the said County Commissioners
are hereby authorized to advertise said bonds for sale in such
newspapers printed and published in Howard County and in
Baltimore City, as they shall determine, and if the said Board
of County Commissioners deem it expedient, then to advertise
said bonds in such other newspaper or newspapers, or publica-
tions as they may select; and the said County Commissioners
shall be in readiness at any time within fifteen days after the
expiration of said notice to receive bids at such place or places
as may be named in said advertisement or advertisements of
