Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading, by yeas and nays as follows:

Senate bill entitled an Act to protect and to prevent the
destruction of the class of small birds known as inaectiverous
birds, in St. Mary's county,
Being upon its second reading,
Mr. Suit submitted the following amendment:
Section 1, Line 9, after the words "hanging bird," insert
"jaybird."
Which was adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was then read the second time and
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.

Mr. Stevens, from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings
(by unanimous consent,) reported favorably,

Senate bill entitled an Act to amend Article 30, of the
Code of Public General Laws, by inserting therein certain
Sections for the prevention of cruelty to animals,
With amendments,

On motion by Mr. Stevens,

Said bill was ordered to be re-printed, as amended.

By the last General Assembly an Act was passed, (1874
chapter 404,) authorizing and directing the Governor to have
painted copies made of the portraits of Thomas Stone anc
William Paca, formerly Governors of our State and signen
of the Declaration of Independence, and also of Thomas
