The President laid before the Senate the following commu-
nication from the Executive:

EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,

Annapolis, Feb. 8th, 1876.

Gentlemen of the Senate of Maryland:

I have the honor to inform you that I have approved and
signed the following Senate bills :

No. 7.—An Act to change the dividing line between the
Second and Fifth Election Districts in Garrett county.

No. 8.—An Act to extend the building line in the harbor
of Crisfield, on the north side of the town of Crisfield, into
deep water, so as to admit the erection of oyster-houses along
the same.

No. 9.—An Act to authorize and empower the Governor to
appoint an additional Justice of the Peace in Easton, Tal-
bot county.

No. 10.—An Act to authorize the Clerk of the Circuit
Court for Queen Ann's county to copy index of deeds.

No. 14.—An Act to amend chapter 218, an Act of eighteen
hundred and fifty-six, entitled an Act to incorporate certain
persons as Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church, in
Princess Anne, in Somerset, to be called the "Antioch
Church," and to vest the property of said church in said
trustees.

Which was read.

Senate hill entitled an Act to prevent the increase of gates
on the public roads of Calvert county,

Being unon its third reading,

On motion by Mr. Duke,
Was referred to the Committee on Judicial Proceedings.

Senate bill entitled an Act relating to Justices of the Peace
in and for Garrett county,

Being upon its third reading,

Mr. Lee submitted the following amendment:

After the word "Garrett," in the title and in the body of
the bill insert "Carroll," and strike out "county" wherever
it occurs in said bill and insert "counties."

Which was adopted.

On motion by Mr. Steiner,
Said bill was ordered to lie over and be printed.
