Gentlemen of the Senate of Maryland:

I nominate Richard O. Hollyday, of Talbot county, as Sec-
retary of State for the State of Maryland.

The Senate advised and consents to the aforegoing ap-
pointment.

The following communications which had been received
from his Excellency, James M. Groome, by the hands of the
Hon. Richard C. Hollyday, were lead :

Gentlemen of the Senate of Maryland:

I herewith transmit to you a list of the Executive appoint-
ments made during the recess of the Legislature for Talbot

county:

May 28, 1874.—Alexander Lednum, Officer of Registration
for 4th district vice Jas. H. Ridgaway,
who failed to qualify.

Sep. 29, 1875.—Isaac B. Gibson, Justice of the Peace for 5th
district vice Jas. H. Caulk, who failed to
qualify.

NOV. 24, 1875.—Alex, W. P. Robinson, Justice of the Peace
for 1st district vice Wm. B. Wheeler, de-
ceased.

NOV. 30, 1875.—John Reese, Justice of the Peace for 4th dis-
trict vice A. W. P. Robinson, removed
from district.
