when Mr. Stewart jumped up, and with great excitement de-
clared the vote bad been taken erroneously by the reading
Clerk, and incoherently remarked that he did not care if the
Clerk had been retained by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad,
he did not propose to be run over by him. Great confusion
in the House followed, and the Speaker, Mr. Gill, used his
gavel without effect. Mr. Stewart persistently demanded a
re reading of the vote, and in a trembling, deliberate voice
it was done, while perfect silence reigned. It was found that
Mr. Vandiver had been recorded incorrectly. The utmost
confusion and disorder followed, and, after a hot discussion,
the vote was re-called, resulting in an -indefinite postpone-
ment, of the bilL"

Mr. Constable submitted the following order :
Ordered, That it be eniered on the Journal, that the state-
ment made in the Baltimore Gazette of this morning, 17th
March, that any charge was made against Dr. Win, H. Cole,
Reading Clerk of this House, by any Member on the floor of
this House, during the proceedings of the 16th inst., or that
any reflection was cast upon his tair and impartial discharge
of his duty as a Clerk of this House, is entirely incorrect.
Which was adopted.
The bill entitled an Act to prevent the sale of spirituous
or fermented liquors within a distance of two and a-half
miles from the Fair Grounds of the Kent County Agricultu-
ral Society, on the days of the annual exhibition of said So-
ciety, and to give said Society full power to appoint a special
police during said exhibition,
Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.
On motion of Mr. Naill, (the rules being suspended,)
The House proceeded to the consideration of
The bill entitled an Act to authorize the State Librarian
to supply to the Librarian of Congrens of the United States,
such copies of the reports, laws, journals and documents of
the State of Maryland, of which he may have duplicutes, as
can be spared from the State Library, not exceeding in any
case two copies of such volume.
Said bill being upon a third reading,
