Mr. Snowden presented the petition of J. M. S. MacCub-
bin, G. Plater, and 14 others, asking that no appropriation
be made for the Centennial.
Which was read and referred to the Joint Committee on
that subject.
Mr. Gwynn presented the petition of George E. Orme, and
36 other citizens of Prince George's county, asking the
passage of some laws to reduce the expenses of said county,
so as to lessen the taxes.
Which was read and referred to the Prince George's dele-
gation.
Also,
The petition of J. E. Hunt, and 40 other citizens of
Prince George's county, asking for some legislation looking
to a reduction of the expenses of said county so as to lessen
the taxes.
Also,
The petition of John H. Houck, and 28 other ciizens of
Prince George's county, asking lor a repeal of all laws in
reference to State's Attorney s of Prince George's county, and
other legislation looking to the reduction of taxes.
Which was read and referred to the Prince George's dele-
gation.
Mr. McGlone presented the petition of Henry McShane &
Co., J. O. Glenville, Frank Russell and 305 other citizens of
Maryland, opposed to the present contract convict system in
the Maryland Penitentiary.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.
Also,
The petition of Mrs. Maria Mercer, of Baltimore city, for a
pension.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.
Mr. Baldwin presented the petition from John A. Wat-
kins, and others, asking for the passage of a hawk and owl
law for the protection of poultry in Baltimore county.
Which was read and referred to the Baltimore county del-
egation.
Mr. Vandiver presented the petition of Henry W. Archer
and 17 other citizens of Harford county, asking for the
passage of a law for the appointment or election of a county
Treasurer for said county.
Which was read and referred to the Harford delegation.
