The Speaker appointed Mr. Loane a member of the Select
Committee on Gas Investigation, in place of Mr. Donaldson,
relieved .it his own request.
Mr. Snowden presented the petition of George Wheeler,
Wilson F. Talbott and some 300 others from the counties
interested, asking for a new county.
Which was read and referred to the Baltimore, Howard,
Anne Arundel and Montgomery delegations.
Mr. Berkemeier presented the petition of P. Cloyway, J.
Branan, David Kernan and 394 other citizens of Maryland,
opposed to the present contract convict system of the Mary-
land Penitentiary.
Which wap read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.
Mr. hrowden presented the petition of James Gunhy,
Howei Donaldson and 60 other citizens of Prince George's
county, asking the repeal ol the Attachment Law.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.
Mr. Canby presented the petition of F. A. Sheffely, James
Heath Dodge, W. L. Cash 11, Arthur Stabler .and 41 other
citizens of Montgomery county, praying the passage of an
Act providing that the County Commissioners shall appoint
but one Collector of Taxes for said county.
