So the message submitted by Mr, Hoblitzell was assented
to and sent to the Senate.
On motion of Mr Gill, (the rules being suspended by
unanimous consent,)
The House proceeded to the consideration of the following
order submitted by Mr, Donaldson and Adopted on Thursday,
the 6th instant, viz:
Ordered, That the consideration of the petition of J. Mor-
rison Harris do lie on the table till such time as the Speaker,
pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution, do proceed
to open the returns of the election for Governor.
On motion of Mr. Gill, (the rules being suspended by
unanimous consent,)
The House proceeded to the consideration of the petition of
J. Morrison Harris.
Mr. Gill moved that said petition be referred to the Com-
mittee on Elections.
The question recurring upon concurring in the motion,
Mr. Baldwin submitted the following order as an amend-
ment :
Ordered, That the memorial of J. Morrison Harris be re-
ferred to a Select Committee of this House to investigate the
allegation therein made, and that the said Committee shall
hold their sittings in the city of Baltimore, with power to
send for persons and papers, administer oaths and employ a
stenographer to report the testimony taken before them, and
to have the same printed.
Which was read.
On motion 6f Mr. Hodges, (the rules being suspended,)
It was,
Ordered, That when this house adjoura it stand adjourned
until to-morrow at 12 o'clock, noon.
