The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
sage:
BY THE SENATE,
April 3, 1870,
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:
We have received your message requesting the Senate to
recede from its amendment to House Bill No. 65. After con-
sideration, the Senate has determined to adhere to its amend-
ment, and request the appointment of a Committee of Con-
ference to adjust the difference between the two Houses.
We have appointed on the part of the Senate, Messrs Ger-
man, Dennis and Aydelotte.

Mr. Riggs, Chairman on the part of the House of the Joint
Committee appointed to report upon affairs of the Southern
Maryland Railroad Company, submitted the following mi-
nority
REPORT.
To the Honorable,
The General Assembly of Maryland :
The undersigned, members of the Committee appointed
under the Joint Resolutions of the Senate and House of Dele-
gates, in relation to the Southern Maryland Railroad Com-
pany, passed January 25th, 1876, beg leave to submit the fol-
lowing minority report :
The resolutions directed your Committee to make the fol-
lowing specific inquiries :
First. * * * Whether the said subscription by
the Treasurer of the State to the capital stock of the Southern
Maryland Railroad Company was induced to be made by false
and fraudulent representations?
Second. Whether the said sum of one hundred and sixty-
three thousand dollars, or any part thereof, was induced to be
paid by the Treasurer of the State of Maryland to said South-
ern Maryland Railroad Company by false and fraudulent rep-
resentations ?
