Mr. Hoblitzell submitted the following amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Strike out "seven hundred," before the word "thousand,"
and insert "six hundred and seventy-five."
Which was adopted.
The bill, as amended, was than read a second time and
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.
The bill entitled an Act for the relief of certain persons
who claim that property belonging to them was destroyed by
fire on the 7th day of January, 1875 while stored in State
Tobacco Warehouses No. 1 and 2, in the City of Baltimore.
Being upon a second reading.
Mr. Donaldson submitted the following amendments':
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
At the end of Section 1, add "except in those cases where
the said Circuit Judge or Judges before whom said case or
-cases may be tried, or the Judges-of the Court of Appeals
after hearing an appeal, shall certify to the Comptroller that
the claim or claims, on which said action or actions- are
formed, are in his or their opinion inequitable, which cer-
tificate thesaid Judge or Judges are hereby authorized to give
in case, where he or they shall be of that opinion, and in all
such cases, the Comptroller shall not proceed to pay the same,
but shall report said fact to the next General Assembly."
Section 2, line after the word "Companies," insert "or
its or their assignee or assignees."
