AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
Strike out all after the enacting clause, and insert the fol-
lowing : "That if any persons under the age of twenty-one
years shall obtain, by falsely representing himself, to be of
the age of twenty-one years or over, from any ordinary or
oyster house, or from any liquor dealer any spirituous or fer-
mented liquor, or lager beer, to be drunk on the premises, he
shall, upon conviction thereof, pay a fine of not less than five
nor more than ten dollars, together with the cost of prosecu-
tion; and upon failure to pay the same he shall be committed
to jail, and continue therein until the fine and costs are paid,
or Jor the period often days, which ever shall first occur."
"Section 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take ef-
fect from the date of its passage."
The amendments were read.
Mr. Donaldson submitted the following amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Add to Section 1 as amended: "And either party shall be
a competent witness upon trial of an indictment or present-
ment lor violation of this Act, or for selling liquor to minors."
The proposed amendment to the amendment was adopted,

And the bill, as amended, was read a second time and
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.
A bill entitled an Act to repeal Section 4, of the Act of
1860, chapter 274, entitled an Act to incorporate the Balti-
more and Liberty Turnpike Company, and re-enact a substi-
tute therefor,
