SEC. 2. And T>e it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1937.

CHAPTER 419.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the County Commissioners
of Allegany County to borrow money upon the faith and
credit of said County in an amount not to exceed Six Hun-
dred Thousand Dollars (f600, 000. 00), and to issue and sell
bonds to said amount, or pledge the same as collateral with
any federal or private body authorized to lend money to said
County for the purchase of new school sites, for the erection
of new school buildings, for additions, alterations and im-
provements in old school buildings, for improving present
school grounds, for equipping, heating, lighting ventilating
and sanitation in present and new school buildings and for
allocating a portion of the funds herein authorized to be
expended for a consolidated rural school, the Oldtown Con-
solidated School, the John Humbird School, the West Side
School in Cumberland, the Cresaptown School, the Mount
Savage School, the Eckhart School, Beall High School in
Frostburg, the La Vale School, the Frederick Street Colored
School in Cumberland, Bruce High School in Westernport,
Allegany High School, the Barton School, Central School in
Lonaconing, the Jackson School in Lonaconing, the East
Side School in Cumberland, Hammond Street School in
Westernport and Midland School, to provide for the use of
any surplus that may remain after said schools are erected,
improved, equipped or repaired, to provide for an annual
levy on all the assessable property of Allegany County, to
pay the principal and interest on said bonds when due and to
provide that said Act shall be passed as an emergency law.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Allegany County be
and they are hereby authorized and empowered to issue, from
time to time serial coupon bonds upon the faith and credit of
said County to the amount of Six Hundred Thousand Dollars
($600, 000. 00) par value, in the denomination of One Hundred
Dollars ($100. 00), or any multiple thereof as may seem advis-
able to the County Commissioners of Allegany County, to bear
