natic and Insane Paupers", "Board of Mental Hygiene" and
"Rosewood State Training School", to provide that indigent
persons accepted into Rosewood State Training School shall
be a charge upon the County or City of Baltimore, wherein
they reside, to the extent of not more than one hundred and
twenty-five dollars ($125) per year each.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 3, 4, 47 and 49 of Article 59 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Lunatics and
Insane", sub-titles "Lunatic and Insane 1'aupers", "Board of
Mental Hygiene"; and "Rosewood State Training School", be
and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
so as to read as follows:

?>. No person shall be deemed entitled to the benefit of the
preceding sections who shall possess or be entitled to receive
sufficient income for his or her maintenance and support as a
patient in any home, retreat or hospital for the insane of this
State, or who has relatives or others legally chargeable with
his or her support, or who are able to pay for the maintenance
and support of the said person as a patient at any home, re-
treat or hospital for the insane of this State. The County
Commissioners of any County or the Department of Welfare
of the City of Baltimore may consent in writing to the com-
mitment in accordance with the provisions of Section 1 of any
indigent insane or feebleminded person from the respective
Counties or the city aforesaid not able to pay the whole cost
of his or her maintenance, but who may be able to pay for
part thereof, as a reimbursing patient, and designate the rate
which shall be reimbursed to the County or City of Baltimore
from which said patient is committed.

4. The County Commissioners or the Department of Wel-
fare of Baltimore City, as the case may be, shall investigate
the financial condition of all persons hereafter to be com-
mitted under the provisions of the preceding sections of this
Article to any of the institutions mentioned therein or re-
ceived by the Board of Visitors of Rosewood State Training
School, and also the financial conditions of their relatives or
other persons legally chargeable with their maintenance and
support, in order to determine, in each case, the ability of
any such person, or of Ms or her relatives or other persons
legally chargeable with his or her maintenance or support,
to make payment, in whole or in part, for the maintenance and
support of such person while an inmate of such institution.
In making such investigation, the County Commissioners and
the Department of Welfare of Baltimore City shall require
