mitted to and approved by the qualified voters of the town of
Edmonston, as hereinafter provided.
The said election shall be held in conjunction with the next
general election of the Town of Edmonston held after the
passage of this Act, or, in the discretion of the Mayor and
Common Council of Edmonston, such election may be held as a
special election to be held within six months after the passage
of this Act, which special election shall be conducted in all
respects as general elections of the Town of Edmonston are
conducted; provided, that in the event of either a general or
special election a copy of this Act be published in some news-
paper published in Prince George's County at least one week
prior to the date of such election.
The ballots shall be prepared as ballots are prepared for a
general election and shall have printed thereon the words
"For Street Improvements" and immediately thereunder the
words "Against Street Improvements, " with a square after
said words in each case for the X mark of the voters, and the
voters may vote thereon by an X mark after his or her choice.
In the event that at such election the majority of ballots
voted in regard to the provisions of this Act shall be properly
marked in the square after the words "For Street Improve-
ments, " then this Act shall be in full force and effect, but in
the event that the majority of the ballots voted shall be prop-
erly marked in the square after the words "Against Street Im-
provements" then this Act shall be null and void.
SEC. 9. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety, and being
passed upon a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of
all the members elected to each of the two Houses of the
General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 298.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Sections
316, 317 and 318 of Article 17 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's County", sub-title
"County Commissioners", as amended by Chapter 460 of the
Acts of 1935 increasing the compensation of the Clerk to the
County Commissioners, the Deputy Clerk, the Road Clerk
and the Transfer Clerk and Auditor.
