date for Mayor shall be assessed on the books of said town for
at least $1, 000. 00 of real property, and each of said candidates
for Treasurer or Councilman shall be assessed on the books of
said town for at least $500. 00; and any person desiring to run
for said Mayor and Treasurer of said town shall file with the
Board of Election Supervisors of said town as provided for in
Section 7A of Chapter 153 of the Acts of the General Assembly
of Maryland of 1922, as amended by Chapter 142 of the Acts
of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1929, a petition con-
taining the signatures of at least 20 persons, voters registered
on the town registration books of the town of Brentwood;
and any person desiring to run for Councilman from his Ward
shall file a petition with said Board of Election Supervisors
containing the signatures of at least 10 voters registered on
the town registration books of the town of Brentwood residing
in his Ward; and all said petitions must be filed on or before
the second Monday prior to election. When said petitions
have been filed and the time for their filing has expired, the
Board of Election Supervisors shall examine and pass upon
the sufficiency and legality of the petitions and the eligibility
of the petitioning candidates and shall cause to be published
in some manner as shall give general publicity, the names of
candidates for election and the office to which they aspire; and
shall cause said names to be printed on official ballots to be
used in the election, as provided in Section 116 of Article 17
of said Code of Public Local Laws.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety and being
passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of all
members elected to each of the two Houses of the General
Assembly, the same is to take effect from the date of its pas-
sage.

CHAPTER 283.

AN ACT defining what newspapers or publications may be
used for the publication of official notices, advertisements,
or other publications required to be published in Prince
George's County by the State as such, or by any department,
board, or body of the State Government, or by any sub-
divisional governmental body thereof, or for the purpose of
legal notices or advertisements required to be published by
law in Prince George's County.
