536 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 276

Commissioners of Prince George's County shall appoint some
additional person as further clerical assistant to said Police
Justice at Large at a salary not to exceed Thirteen Hundred
Dollars ($1, 300. 00), payable monthly by the County Commis-
sioners and he or she shall receive no extra compensation
whatsoever in connection with his or her duties as such assist-
ant; that the term of office of said clerical assistants to the
Police Justice shall be for two years, to begin contemporane-
ously with that of the Police Justice in the year 1937; and
the County Commissioners shall biennially appoint thereafter
such clerical assistants. The clerical assistant first hereinbe-
fore mentioned, before entering upon his duties shall execute
a bond similar to that required of the Police Justice in the
penalty of Five Thousand Dollars ($5, 000. 00) for the same
use and purpose. The County Commissioners shall have full
power and authority to remove said clerical assistants or
either of them from office for incompetency, wilful neglect
of duty or misconduct, and in case of vacancy to appoint
his or her successor to fill out the unexpired term ratably
at the same salary and expense account. In the event of the
temporary absence of the clerical assistant first hereinbefore
mentioned, the County Commissioners are hereby authorized
and directed to appoint some suitable person for the time being
in the place and stead of said clerical assistant, who shall
possess the same powers, duties and responsibilities, and who
shall receive ratably the same compensation and expense ac-
count as herein provided for said assistant, to be deducted
from the salary and expense account of said assistant, and
who before entering upon the duties of his office shall give
bond in the penalty of Five Hundred Dollars ($500. 00) for
the same conditions and for the same uses and purposes as
said clerical assistant is required to give.

590. That George B. Merrick be and he is hereby named
as Police Justice to fill any vacancy that may occur between
the passage of this Act and the time his successor is desig
nated by the Governor, pursuant to the provisions of this
Act, and shall possess all of the powers, duties and responsi-
bilities vested in the Police Justice of Prince George's County
provided for herein.

591. That all fines, penalties and forfeitures of every kind
and character for any and all offenses imposed by any ami
all Justices of the Peace of Prince George's County and by
this Act directed to be paid over to the Police Justice or
imposed directly by said Police Justice are hereby directed
to be paid to the County Commissioners of Prince George's
County or such person or persons as are now or may here-
