NO. 17.
JOINT RESOLUTION requesting the Postmaster General to
make provision for erecting a Postoffice Building at La
Plata, Maryland.
WHEREAS, the town of La Plata, Maryland, should have a
Postoffice Building; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Federal Government to give
employment by the construction of public buildings, therefore
be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Postmaster General of the United States be and he is hereby
requested to make provision for constructing a Postoffice
Building at the town of La Plata, Charles County, Maryland,
at the earliest time practicable; and be it further
Resolved, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby
directed to send, under the Great Seal of the State of Mary-
land, a copy of this resolution to the Postmaster General of
the United States and to each of the two United States
Senators from Maryland.

NO. 18.
Joint Resolution requesting the Public Service Commission
of Maryland to investigate conditions under which taxicabs
are being operated in Baltimore City.
WHEREAS, It has been brought to the attention of the Gen-
eral Assembly that numerous calls for taxicab service in Bal-
timore City are met with the response that no cabs are avail-
able and that no service can be supplied except after unrea-
sonable delay and in many cases not at all; and
WHEREAS, It has been urged upon the General Assembly
that the condition complained of arises because of divergent
and inconsistent reasons, the correctness of any of which
can not be determined except by careful examination and
study; and
WHEREAS, The Public Service Commission of Maryland in
1933, in Case No. 3303, has investigated and regulated taxi-
