provisions as are provided in Section 296 of this sub-title, pro-
vided that nothing contained herein shall apply to any
registered apprentice of a licensed Funeral Director acting
under his or her supervision.

298. No license granted or issued under the provisions of
this sub-title shall be assignable or transferable and such li-
cense shall specify the name of the person, co-partnership or
corporation to whom it is issued and the date on which such
license shall terminate, and such license shall further state
that the person, co-partnership or corporation to whom it
has been issued may carry on the funeral directing
business in the State of Maryland during the period therein
specified; and any renewal of said license shall set out the
name of the person, co-partnership or corporation to whom the
same has been issued and the period for which it has been is-
sued, and no renewal of such license shall be assignable or
transferable.

299. It shall be the duty of any person or persons
now licensed to carry on the profession of embalming dead
human bodies in this State at the time of the passage of this
Act to cause within sixty days after the passage of this Act,
his, her or their name or names, residence or place of business,
to be registered with the State Board of Funeral Di-
rectors and Embalmers of Maryland, whose Secretary
shall keep a book for that purpose, and upon the payment of a
fee of five dollars the Secretary of said Board shall enter such
registration in said book and said Board shall thereupon issue
to such person a license signed by the Secretary of said Board
and bearing the seal of the Board, which license shall entitle
the holder thereof to practice the profession of embalming in
the State of Maryland.

300. Before any person or persons shall hereafter engage in
the profession of embalming in this State, and before any per-
son or persons now so engaged in said profession of embalm-
ing in this State who shall fail to register with said Board in
accordance with Section 299 of this Article, shall continue
to carry on said profession of embalming in this State,
such person or persons shall apply to said Board of
Funeral Directors and Embalmers for a license to practice
embalming; and such applicant or applicants shall present
himself or herself before said Board at the time and place to be
fixed by said Board, and if the Board shall find, upon due ex-
amination and the payment of an examination fee of twenty-
five dollars, that the applicant or applicants are of good moral
character, twenty-one years of age and free from habits liable
to interfere with the performance of the duties which he or she
