who shall faithfully keep the sealed ballot boxes for a period of
thirty (30) days after said election. No ballots shall be
deposited in said ballot boxes after the hour of eight o'clock
P. M., on said election day.
In the event of a majority of said votes cast being in favor
of the annexation of the territory herein described to the
City of Mount Rainier, said territory shall be annexed to and
become a part of said City of Mount Rainier as of October 1,
1947.
Provided, however, that in the event a majority of the votes
in said area, at an election to be held prior to September 1,
1947, shall be in favor of incorporating said area as a muni-
cipality, then this Act shall be null and void and of no effect
whatsoever.
SEC. 10. And, be it further enacted, That this Act is an
emergency law and necessary to the preservation of the public
health and safety of the citizens of the territory hereby annexed
to the City of Mount Rainier, and of the State of Maryland, and
three-fifths of the members of both Houses upon a yea and
nay vote having concurred therein, it is declared to be an
emergency Act and as such to take effect from the date of its
passage.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
389 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's
County (Flack's Edition, 1943), as enacted by Chapter 298,
Section 316 of the Acts of 1937, Chapter 406 of the Acts
of 1941, and Chapter 907 of the Acts of 1945, respectively,
to increase the salary of the Deputy Clerks of the County
Commissioners.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 389 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Prince George's County (Flack's Edition, 1943), as enacted by
Chapter 298, Section 316 of the Acts of 1937, Chapter 406 of
the Acts of 1941, and Chapter 907 of the Acts of 1945, re-
spectively, be and the same is hereby, repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
