vice; three thousand eight hundred dollars ($3,800) per year
for the eighth year of teaching and supervising service; three
thousand nine hundred dollars ($3,900) per year for the ninth
year of teaching and supervising service; four thousand dol-
lars ($4,000) per year for the tenth year of teaching and super-
vising service; four thousand one hundred dollars ($4,100)
per year for the eleventh year of teaching and supervising ser-
vice; four thousand two hundred dollars ($4,200) per year for
the twelfth year of teaching and supervising service; four thou-
sand three hundred dollars ($4,300) per year for the thirteenth
year of teaching and supervising service; four thousand four
hundred dollars ($4,400) per year for the fourteenth year of
teaching and supervising service; four thousand five hundred
dollars ($4,500) per year for the fifteenth year of teaching
and supervising service; four thousand six hundred dollars
($4,600) per year for the sixteenth year of teaching and super-
vising service; four thousand seven hundred dollars ($4,700)
per year for the seventeenth and each succeeding year of ser-
vice thereafter, provided that supervising teachers with twelve
years or less teaching and supervising experience prior to
September 1, 1947, shall receive the salary in the new schedule
corresponding with their years of experience, and supervising
teachers having more than twelve years' teaching and super-
vising experience prior to September 1, 1947, shall be placed
on the new schedule corresponding with the twelfth year of
experience; each subsequent year thereafter they shall receive
one increment on the salary schedule.

A supervising teacher having completed at least one year
of graduate work, meeting the requirements for the appro-
priate supervising teacher's certificate, shall receive $200 per
year more than the foregoing schedule for a supervising
teacher holding a Bachelor's Degree requires.

With the approval of the State Superintendent of Schools,
county boards of education may employ helping teachers and
supervising teachers without Degrees, under the conditions
for supervising teachers prescribed in this section at an annual
salary of six hundred dollars ($600) less than that paid to
supervising teachers with degrees. The State of Maryland
shall pay, as hereinafter provided, out of the General State
School Fund to the treasurer of the County Board of Educa-
tion two-thirds of the annual salaries of the supervising
teachers or helping teachers required by this section. County
Boards of Education may at their discretion, pay to a county
supervising or helping teacher an annual salary in excess of
the schedule provided in this section, but the State shall not
share in the part-payment of this excess. County Boards of
Education are free to employ as many additional supervising
teachers or helping teachers as in their judgment are necessary
