tween the State of Maryland and the Commonwealth of Vir-
ginia on the twenty-eighth day of March, 1785.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety, and having
been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths
of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of the
General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 277.
(House Bill 526)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
111 of Article 6 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land (1930 Edition), title "Caroline County", sub-title
"County Treasurer", as said section was amended by Chapter
99 of the Acts of 1943, increasing the salary of the Deputy
Treasurer of Caroline County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 111 of Article 6 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Caroline County",
sub-title "County Treasurer", as said section was amended by
Chapter 99 of the Acts of 1943, be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
111. The Treasurer of Caroline County shall, upon taking
office, beginning with the year 1922 and every four years there-
after, appoint a Deputy Treasurer who shall hold office for a
term of four years, and the said deputy, so appointed, shall
assist the Treasurer in the performance of all the duties of
said office under the direction and control of said Treasurer,
and said Treasurer for Caroline County shall be liable and
responsible for all the acts and conduct of said deputy in the
handling of any books, records or moneys of Caroline County
in said office, and the said Deputy Treasurer shall receive a
salary of Twelve Hundred and Fifty Dollars (fl,250) per
annum.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1947.
