CHAPTER 155.
(Senate Bill 78)
AN ACT to repeal Sections 39 and 40 of Article 26 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), and Section
40A of said Article (1943 Supplement), title "Courts",
sub-title "Court of Appeals", and to enact in lieu thereof a
new section, to be known as Section 39 and to follow im-
mediately after Section 38 of said Article, relating to em-
ployees of the Court of Appeals and the services of a Sheriff.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 39 and 40 of Article 26 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), and Section 40A of said
Article (1943 Supplement), title "Courts", sub-title "Court
of Appeals", be and they are hereby repealed, and that a new
section be and it is hereby enacted in lieu thereof, to be
known as Section 39 and to follow immediately after Section
38 of said Article, to read as follows:
39. The Court of Appeals shall have power to appoint
such law clerks, stenographers and other employees as it
shall deem necessary and the persons so appointed shall re-
ceive such compensation as shall be provided in the State
Budget. Whenever, in the judgment of said Court, the at-
tendance or services of a Sheriff may be required in said
Court, the Judges thereof may direct a Sheriff to attend or
perform such services, for which attendance and services the
said Sheriff shall be entitled to such compensation as the
Court shall determine.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.

AN ACT to repeal Section 126 of Article 81 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Revenue and
Taxes", sub-title "Inheritance Tax", and to enact in lieu
thereof a new Section 126, relating to contributions to the
payment of Federal estate taxes proportionately and equit-
