bowling alley, tenpin alley or duckpin alley between the hours
of 1 P. M. and 6 P. M. on the first day of the week, commonly
called "Sunday", with or without a charge or fee, provided,
however, that no organized or league game may be played in
said alleys at any time on said day. Any operation of bowling
alleys, tenpin alleys or duckpin alleys on Sunday, except as
hereby authorized shall be unlawful and subject to the pro-
visions and penalties of Sections 560 or 576 of this Article.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws and parts
of laws, whether public general or public local laws, incon-
sistent with the provisions of this Act be and the same are
hereby repealed to the extent of any such inconsistency.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall not
become effective until it shall have been submitted for adop-
tion or rejection to the qualified voters of Carroll County,
and of each of the separate Election Districts of said county.
On the day fixed by law for the holding of the next general
election in November, 1948, there shall be submitted to the
legal and qualified voters of Carroll County and of each of
the separate Election Districts of said county the question
whether the operation of any bowling alley, tenpin alley, or
duckpin alley, on Sunday shall be authorized, as provided in
this Act, in said county, or in any of the said Election Dis-
tricts thereof. The Supervisors of Elections shall cause to be
printed on the official ballots to be used at said election the
title of this Act, and underneath said title on separate lines
a square or box to the right of and opposite the words "For
Bowling on Sunday", and a corresponding square or box to
the right of and opposite the words "Against Bowling on
Sunday", so that the said voters shall be able to designate
by a cross mark in the proper square or box his or her de-
cision for or against bowling on Sunday. If a majority of the
votes cast in any Election District on said question shall be
"For Bowling on Sunday" then this Act shall thereupon auto-
matically become effective immediately in said Election Dis-
trict or Election Districts. If a majority of the votes cast in
any Election District on said question shall be "Against Bowl-
ing on Sunday", then this Act shall be null and void and of
no effect whatsoever in any such Election District or Election
Districts.
SEC. 4. And Be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.
