SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall con-
tinue in effect unless on or before the date of the next regular
town election at least fifty qualified voters of said town shall
petition for a referendum. In the event the said fifty qualified
voters request such a referendum, the election officials shall
cause to be printed on the ballots to be used at said election the
title of this Act and, underneath the said title on separate
lines, a square or box to the right of and opposite the words
"For Enlarging the Town Limits", and a corresponding square
or box to the right of and opposite the words "Against Enlarg-
ing the Town Limits", so that the voters shall be able to desig-
nate by a cross mark in the proper square or box his or her
decision for or against said question. If a majority of the
votes cast on said question shall be "For Enlarging the Town
Limits", then this Act shall continue to be in effect; but if
a majority of the votes cast thereon shall be "Against Enlarg-
ing the Town Limits", then this Act shall be null and void
and of no effect whatsoever.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.

CHAPTER 874.
(House Bill 852)
AN ACT to authorize and empower the Mayor and Aldermen
of Frederick to borrow upon the faith and credit of said
city a sum not to exceed One Hundred Fifty Thousand
Dollars ($150,000.00) and to Issue coupon serial bonds
therefor, the proceeds to be used for constructing, improv-
ing and extending the sanitary sewage system in Frederick
City and providing for the levying of taxes necessary for
the payment of such bonds.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Mayor and Aldermen of Frederick, a muni-
cipal corporation, be and it is hereby authorized and em-
powered to borrow upon the faith and credit of said city a
sum or sums not to exceed a total of One Hundred Fifty
Thousand Dollars ($150,000.00), from time to time, and to
issue and sell coupon serial bonds not exceeding said amount.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the said Mayor
and Aldermen, shall by resolution prescribe the form and
