Edition, 1943), title "Prince George's County", sub-title
"Edmonston", as said section was amended by Chapter 913
of the Acts of 1945, the said amendment to this section pro-
viding for the payment of compensation to the Mayor and
Councilmen of the Town of Edmonston, Maryland.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 516 of the Public Local Laws of Prince
George's County (Flack's Edition, 1943), title "Prince George's
County" sub-title "Edmonston", as said section was amended
by Chapter 913 of the Acts of 1945, is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

516. At the first election of officers held under this Charter,
after notice printed in some county newspaper, the qualified
voters of the town shall elect a Mayor and Treasurer to serve
the term of one year, and shall elect four Councilmen, two
from each ward, to be voted for by the qualified voters of each
ward, one from each ward to serve for the term of two years
and one from each ward to serve for the term of one year. At
the first meeting the Mayor and Councilmen shall designate
the time to be served by each Councilman. At each successive
annual election the qualified voters of each ward shall elect
a Councilman to serve for two years, after notice printed in
some county newspaper. Beginning with the annual election
in 1935 and thereafter, the Mayor and the Treasurer shall be
elected and hold office for the term of two years. The Mayor
and Treasurer must continually reside in said town, and each
Councilman in his respective ward during their term of office.
As compensation the Mayor shall receive $120.00 per year and
each Councilman shall receive $60.00 per year to reimburse
them for their expenses in connection with their respective
offices.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.
