partment of Correction", relating to the approval of bills
against any of the institutions in the Department of Cor-
rection and eliminating unnecessary provisions relating
to the purchase of supplies.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 763 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Crimes and Punishments",
sub-title "Department of Correction", be and it is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
763. The said Board shall have the control and manage-
ment of the financial affairs of the said institutions, and no
bill against any of said institutions shall be paid until it
has been approved by someone designated by said Board
or by the Chairman.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.

CHAPTER 723.
(House Bill 324)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
5 of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939
Edition), title "Health", sub-title "State Board of Health",
eliminating obsolete and unnecessary provisions.
WHEREAS, Section 1 of this Article provides the manner
in which the Director of Health may be removed and that
his compensation shall be as provided in the State Budget
and thereby superseding the provisions of Section 5 as to
these items; therefore
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 5 of Article 43 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Health", sub-title "State
Board of Health", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
5. The Director shall keep a record of the transactions of
the Board and an account of all expenditures by them; he
shall, whenever necessary or practicable, correspond and con-
