On motion by Mr. Bannon,

The Senate advised and consented to the aforegoing ap-
pointments, agreeably to the nominations of the 24th inst.

On motion by Mr. Lee,

The Senate resumed the consideration of Legislative busi-
ness.

FRIDAY, January 25, 1878.

The following communication, which had been received
from his Excellency, Governor Carroll, by the hands of the
Hon. R. C. Hollyday, Secretary of the State, was read:
