OF THE SENATE. 981

On motion by Mr. Humphreys,

The Senate advised and consented to the aforegoing ap-
pointments, except the appointment of William S. Gordy,
Justice of the Peace for the 5th district, which was ordered
to lie over.

Mr. Ford, (Chairman), from the Committee on Executive
Nominations to which had been referred the appointments
for Carroll, Caroline, Baltimore, Allegany, Charles, Wor-
cester, Frederick, Howard, Kent, Montgomery and Wash-
ington Counties, and Commissioners of Deeds and State
Officers, reported the Committee were of opinion that said
nominations ought to be confirmed.

Whereupon the Senate advised and consented to said nom-
inations.

On motion by Mr. McLane,

The Senate resumed the consideration of Legislative bus-
iness.

TUESDAY, January 15. 1878.
On motion by Mr. Humphreys,

The Senate advised and consented to the appointment of
William P. Gordy, agreeably to the nomination of the
4th inst.

On motion by Mr. Humphreys,

The Senate resumed the consideration of Legislative bus-
iness.

WEDNESDAY, January 16, 1878.

The following communication which had been received
from his Excellency, John Lee Carroll, by the Hon. R. C.
Hollyday, Secretary of State, was read:
